Point of history...

The Belgian flag motto is as follow: Unity is strength. Black represents strength, yellow wisdom and red courage. Originally these 3 colors were horizontal but it was decided to have them vertically as the colors of the French flag, symbol of Revolution. The colors took the following meaning: black for human sacrifices for independence, yellow for wealth and red for blood.
